This is the way your brought your FLi, chassis only, no doors, the extras were added at additional costs. |
The new Fli was introduced in July 1959 with many new features over its earlier models. Although basically the same cab as the FDC, although the rag top sun roof was now not present, engine and most other parts were used from the Li series of scooters introduced a few years earlier.
An increase of 25cc using the newer designed engines with horizontal cylinder gave the newly named Lambro models much more power. Traditionally Lambros were never used in the mountanous regions of Italy as it was thought they did not have enough power, but with these new models the difficult terrain was now negotiable.
A lockable box that could be used for a wide variety of uses. |
The gearbox also gained one extra gear now with four speeds forward and one reverse.
Series one FLi's used the same D/LD front forks, although the wheels were modified with extra nuts and generally larger components to help with the extra weight.
With the introduction of the second series of FLi in July 1960, one year after the first series was produced, some more notable improvements were made. Cab and rear carrying space was enlarged, the Lambro could not quite comfortably carry loads of upto 400kgs.
Pick-up body, with a tail gate that could be lowered for ease of loading. |
Electrics were now up to 12volts which greatly improved lighting, and allowed front side lights and indicators to be used on the bigger cab. Upgrading the manually operated wind screen wiper to an electric one was even an option on the 1960's, along with doors!
Rear lights were a more normal car derived cluster of lights.
Starting was now made easier by use of a kick start pedal, although this can be akward to operate unless you stand outside the cab.
Another box cabin, even doors were an optional extra on the Fli. |
Many options of rear boxes were available, you could order your Lambro in chassis only option, rear pick up, and a number of different enclosed boxes. By the end of the FLi/Lambro production in August 1965, this the most popular of Innocenti three wheeled vehicles had remarkably amounted to over 82,000 units produced, in not only Italy, buy many countries around the world under license.
